This is the first time I have even looked at a blog. I checked out several different blogging sites and joined up with a few. After a bit of fiddling around I settled with WordPress.
This look’s pretty easy … how hard can it be? I choose my design, added a few widgets and then I came to a complete stand still. I need to do some more reading on creating a blog. The following points are examples to my continual learning process in blog development:
d Breakdown Posts into Groups for Easy Viewing
I created new pages on my blog using the Write facility. I was trying to group all Learning Log posts together and all Module 1 Tasks posts together. I will have to investigate further how to move all Module 1 Tasks posts from the main board to the Module 1 Tasks page. I loaded all of the Widgets onto my side bar to see what they did and removed the ones I did not want. I discovered that the outcome I was trying to achieve by creating new pages was solved by the Categories Widget. I went back a deleted the new pages I had created.
d Attach a Microsoft Word Document
I tried to upload a Microsoft Word document for the Module 1 Tasks – Telnet. I can’t find where it uploaded, so I have to assume that it didn’t work. I looked through the Frequently Asked Questions and read up on what and how uploads and pages are used. I played around creating pages and uploading documents trying a variety of methods making many mistakes (which I cleaned up as I went along). Basically I knew what I wanted to do and discovered the solution through trial and error.
I have had an interesting time with my blog and each time I attempt to update it, I learn sometime new. The HTML task has been extremely useful in assisting me to make my blog look the way I want it to.
